How do I book an appointment?
You can use the link provided in my Instagram bio and on this website when my books are open. Any updates will be posted on my Instagram account, so turn on your post notifications to make sure you don’t miss any updates!

What does books closed mean?
It means I’m currently not taking new clients.

I don’t have Instagram, how will I know when your books open?
I know not everyone uses Instagram. I’m hoping to eventually have a mailing list, but for now Instagram is the only place I post booking updates.

How do you choose submissions?
I choose submissions based on the idea - I’m grateful to be at a point where I can be selective with the work I take on. If I don’t choose your submission, please don’t take it personal or think I don’t like your idea. I get a lot of requests when I open my books and can sadly only do a small number of them.

I submitted a request and didn’t hear back when you opened your books, why not?
I only reach out to those I am able to accommodate for that booking round.

I called the shop 47 times but no one answered, why don’t you answer the phone?
Heirloom is an appointment based shop, so we don’t have a receptionist to answer the phone. If someone is free they may answer it, but it’s not a reliable form of communication for any of us. We have the phone incase or emergency or if someone is running late, in that case we will answer it! You are welcome to leave a message, but any booking or rebooking needs to be done by email.

Do you have a cancellation list?
No - I’ve tried to keep lists over the years, but it just ends up being way too hectic. For any cancellations or last minute openings, I always post them in my Instagram story!

What if I don’t know what I want but I want you to tattoo me?
Then it’s best to think on it a bit more! Many folks say “do whatever you want”, which historically has never worked out and I end up redoing the drawing. I can’t take something on that has no concept, because chances are you are a stranger and I have no idea what you like!

Do you do cover ups or reworks of other artists work?
The short answer is sometimes! It’s really on a case-by-case basis, as there are certain things that either can’t be covered or pieces that just wouldn't benefit from a rework in my style. Don’t be afraid to ask, and I’m always happy to recommend alternatives!

What is your rate?
$180 per hour +tax. Larger projects can be based off half and full day rates (check out the Information page for more details).

What is your minimum price and what does that mean?
The minimum rate is $300 and is basically for anything that takes under two hours.

Can I bring my loved one or friend to my appointment?
No, I’m sorry! People love to watch and hover, and I just work much better without additional people in my space. We have a waiting area, but chances are you will be getting tattooed for a few hours, so it would be best for them to make other arrangements (Suda Table is around the corner and a great place to hang and grab some food).

I plan on visiting Halifax, can I book an appointment for while I’m there?
If I have availability I will try to make it work. Send the shop an email with your idea and specifications and I’ll do my best to accomodate!

What’s your touch up policy?
I can touch up anything I’ve done for free within 6 months, anything outside of that may require a set up fee for supplies. If you have something I did over the years and would like it reworked or touched up, feel free to reach out!

If I’m under 18 can I get tattooed if my parent signs for me?
No! You must be 18 to get tattooed, no exceptions.

Is there anything you can do for clients who are nervous / have sensory stuff / don’t like to be exposed in front of other people in the shop?
I try to be as accommodating as possible with every client, knowing that everyone’s level of comfort and safety is different. If there’s anything I can do please let me know in advance, this includes having a silent appointment (no chatting), using a room divider for privacy, scheduling your appointment on a slower day with less people present, or taking breaks to ensure you’re as comfortable as you can be during the tattoo process.
